Sports season gets underway on campus


The season for sports events has arrived in the campus. The heats for the grand finale on August 21 got underway on Wednesday with two athletic events being held on college grounds.
The first one was the heats for the 100 meter race for both boys and girls. The second was javelin throw.
The heats were followed by the semi-finals and eight boys and eight girls were chosen for the finals.
Mr Madappa of the Biotechnology Department was in-charge of the javelin throw event. He said, “There are point systems for all the events. For participation, one point will be given. Those bagging the first position will get
ten points followed by the
second and the third positions getting six and four points
respectively. An overall championship will be awarded to the class with th
e maximum points.”
He added that the Post Graduate students were also
welcome to participate. The whole athletic meet is being co-ordinated by Mr Newton, the College Sports Co-ordinator.
