The faculty team of SJC defeated II MEC in an exciting match which took place on campus grounds on Monday. II MEC had defeated III BCA in the inter-class finals and sought to play a friendly match with the teachers.
Both the teams played with a lot of spirit. The teachers had a lot of support, especially from III BCA who were defeated by II MEC. However, most students cheered for both the teams with a lot of enthusiasm throughout the game.
The match was poised at 1-1. However, the teachers managed snatch a victory in the tie-breaker by 3-2. “We played for the sake of enjoyment, winning or losing does not matter,” said Dr Michael Rajamathi, of Chemistry Department who scored the winning goal. Incidentally, he was the oldest member of the team.
“We played with our strengths, overcoming our weaknesses,” stated Keith, of Microbiology Department and the captain of the winning team.
Ronald, the captain of II MEC said, “My team was weak and the teachers played above our expectations.”
