In his address, Mr Bangarappa encouraged the students to selflessly work towards the welfare of the College. “You are the ones who can make the difference and make things possible by serving society,” he said. He also stressed on the need to conserve water and other natural resources. “Water conservation should be a top priority of us all. Besides, we must also work towards reducing pollution levels,” Mr Bangarappa added.
Fr Rector called upon students to be proactive in taking leadership. “Leadership comes with responsibility and responsibilities come with duties,” he said.
He further said that as an Autonomous institution, the College placed greater responsibility on students. “Since four years, our college is an autonomous body, which instills a sense of belonging among staff and students, and therefore expects greater responsibility from the Students’ Council,” he said.
Fr Principal said, “Education is not only putting knowledge in your head, but being able to contribute towards a purpose. Every council member must concretely contribute towards the welfare of others. The academic council members are the toppers. But if there is a single failure in the class, I would consider the concerned academic council member as a failure. If all council members work selflessly there should not be a single failure in the College,”
Earlier, Mr Wajeed, Mr Godwin, Dr Fariyal Sheik, Mr Anthony Christy and Dr Beatrice Sequeira led the oath to Academic Council, Class Representatives, Cultural Committee, Sports Council and PG Class Representatives, respectively.
Anjana of I PG Microbiology performed a prayer dance.
