On the occasion of its golden jubilee the department of Sociology and its association ‘Social Zest’, conducted competitions on social issues for the benefit of the non-Sociology students of SJC, on July 11.
The competitions included essay writing, letters-to-the-editor and picture writing. Essay writing was based on debatable topics such as decriminalising gay sex – a social revolution; ragging – a black hole in educational institutions and racist attacks in Australia. A large number of participants were from the science and HEP combinations.
The department of Sociology is celebrating its Golden jubilee at SJC. Priya George of III IES is the president of ‘Social zest’and ‘Nikasha’ is the chief editor for ‘Gusto’, the magazine brought out by the association.
